Caney Fork Electric is a distribution cooperative formed on the courthouse steps at Sparta, TN in 1940. We proudly serve Warren, White, DeKalb and Van Buren Counties as well as a small portion of Cannon, Coffee, Grundy, Putnam and Sequatchie counties. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable and affordable power to our member/owners all while working to improve their quality of life. CFEC employs a total of 84 team members including 4 interns and 28 linemen. We maintain 4,089 plus miles of electric distribution lines, responsible for power flowing to 35,104 services which include 28,988 residential members. We work and live in our communities, so we have a vested interest in “keeping the lights on”.
Being the halfway point between Nashville and Chattanooga, our area is home to outstanding outdoor recreations such as camping, kayaking, fishing (home to very popular musky fishing tournament), waterfalls, local country club golfing, soccer and disc golf. CFEC is headquartered in McMinnville, TN and while living in a quiet, scenic area is nice, CFEC is also convenient to major cities including Murfreesboro (40 miles), Cookeville (43 miles), Nashville (73 miles), Chattanooga (75 miles) and Knoxville (124 miles). Our “must-do” list includes Cumberland Caverns, Rock Island State Park, Fall Creek Falls State Park, Summer Concert Series, kayak rentals, Center Hill Lake, Farm-to-table dinner event and the world-renowned ISHA Yoga Center. Festivals are always a highlight throughout our communities such as Blooms and Brews, Fiddler Jamboree and Liberty Square: A Lester Flatt Celebration. Our local arts community thrives throughout the Upper Cumberland Area such as the Park Theater, Warren Arts and Appalachian Center for Crafts. The small-town atmosphere is a great asset for our area – we are blessed with some pretty amazing locally-owned restaurants and shops carrying a variety of goods.
Surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty including mountains, over 100 miles of navigable waterways, caves, hiking trails, state parks and nurseries, Caney Fork Electric’s service area is a wonderful place to call home. Known as the "Nursery Capital of the World," McMinnville and Warren County are home to over 400 thriving nurseries. Climate and soil conditions combine to offer a near-perfect growing environment. In McMinnville, we also have a newly renovated and amazing recreation center with outdoor pool, tennis courts and ball fields.
From line-workers to engineers, cashier/receptionists to accountants … CFEC offers a wide range of employment opportunities. All in all, you can clearly see, our CFEC service area is a great place to live, work and play.
